The phrase "let infinocchiare" derives from the custom of winemakers to offer chopped fennel
who appeared to buy the wine is kept in barrels. In
fennel, in fact, there are aromatic substances that make tasty
also a wine of poor quality .
The saying "queer", used in an offensive way and discrimination against gay people , was born in the Middle Ages when the poor people were burned at the stake, and to cover the smell of fennel were added to the fire.
